The 21st Century Leadership Dilemma
Breaking habits are hard enough without having the uphill battle of breaking one in the space of leadership. Especially when the reward’s system of leadership contributes to the problem.
Because we live in a 24/7 connected world now, the need for how we lead and manage teams is rapidly shifting. BUT breaking the century-old habits of our current leadership styles will not disappear without a transformational experience.
Rajeev chose to research over 16,000 people in 28 countries and was shocked at the overwhelming response to what KIND of leadership all generations wanted. In a world where we tell leaders, they must build engagement with their workforce no we find it is in direct opposition to the style of leadership teams think are most effective and want to work within the business.
The research data alone at the end of Open Source Leadership will stretch you and your leadership team to evaluate where your business needs to optimize your competencies.
Join Rajeev and Michele for a nice deep dive interview into the insights his research surfaced, improving your leadership competencies.

Part 3 – Bring Your Value
Own your Value
There are four cornerstones of your Total Value Package:
- Know your value
- Own your value
- Bring you value
- Convey your value
Knowing your value is about knowing your strengths, the unique gifts, skills or talents you bring to the table. It’s your the value proposition and how you add value to others.
Owning your value is having the confidence to project your value with authenticity and alignment. When you show up with authentic confidence you don’t undervalue your value with doubt or overestimate your value because of fear. You show up with assurance, poise, and genuineness.
Now we’re going to explore what it means to bring your value.
The essence of bringing your value boils down to using your innate gifts to help others get what they want.
You have a specific specialty. A talent, a skill, an idea or perspective. This innate gift is who you are. However, to see yourself in action or to actualize on this gift, you need to bring it out into the world.
It’s like you’re this unopened gift sitting under a Christmas tree. You need give it to someone so that you can add value to them by using your gift to help them get what they want.
Your value, your gift which I like to call Your Brilliant Difference is here to help and serve others. It’s here to help them get what they want. The purpose of Your Brilliant Difference is to add value.
Your job is to be like a diamond detector holding your scanner looking for these raw gems hidden under the sand. These raw gems are the specific people Your Brilliant Difference, this innate gift will help, add value and provide a benefit too.
Be sure to tune in to this month’s Breakthrough Tip with Finka where she’ll share more details on how you can Bring your Value so you can add value to your team, organization, and clients
So how do you bring your value, your innate gift, this Brilliant Difference your here to make?
Here are 4 steps you can take to Bring your Value to others:
- Identify and know your value: With clarity and confidence knowing your innate gift, Your Brilliant Difference.
- Understand and learn more about the person you want to serve. What is going on in their life? What do they yearn for most? What challenges are they experiencing?
- Name the specific pain point or gain point you want to use Your Brilliant Difference to solve.
- Identify who your gift would ideally serve and support. Who is the most likely candidate that would benefit most from what you have to offer?

Developing a Connection Game Plan
Andrea Waltz, author, and speaker for Go For No delivers a Breakthrough Byte is a 20+minute segment mindset tip at the close of Breakthrough Radio show each 4th Monday. The Breakthrough Byte is more than the tips, shorter than the feature interview to allow listeners to enjoy multiple learning styles to absorb our content. Andrea has created powerful series for your Go For No Breakthrough Tip each month.
When it comes to making connections, you ultimately, you should have a plan.
Jim Rohn said, “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
If you are not getting the results that you want… have you taken an honest look at your current connections?
In the last segments on Breakthrough Radio, I shared about the need for you to find “your marigold” – that person or people who will help you grow!
I talked about the need to get out to events and avoid the lone wolf syndrome! And, exactly the couple questions you should have in your back pocket to use to connect with people at events.
Now you need to have a game plan. Don’t leave your connection strategy to chance. Decide what it looks like. For example, in his book School of Greatness, Lewis Howes suggests the following when it comes to making connections:
• Connect with 3 people a week in your industry in person, by phone, or online.
• Connect with 3 influencers a week
• Share a meal with 3 people each week
• Go to one group event each month
Finally, be a Go-Giver. There is a saying that goes: Dig your well before you are thirsty. Don’t focus on not reaching because you “don’t need anything.” Reach out focusing on what you can offer. Be of value. Gather information from your connections. Ask how you can be of service to them.
Creating a Connection Gameplan:
- Spend more time with your “marigolds” and avoid the people who bring you down
- Avoid falling into being a Lone Wolf and get to events in your industry
- Have a connection “game plan” and execute it each week/month.
